Best Chocolate in Alaska
Located in the northwest corner of the Sear's Mall.
I dont know where to start, but I can start by saying it is the best chocolate i have ever had. My husbands favorites are the chocolate covered jellies. I love all the rest, even their creams. I take that back, especially their creams. That is usually the type what you want to put back when you find it. Not with these. All of the flavoring is natural and real, not artificial. I have made many converts. I thought i would hate the banana, sounds weird, but OMG. I think i even saw the little banana seeds. I love the raspberry of course as well, raspberry seeds and all. It is an incredible treat.
I asked them once why their chocolate was so much better than the Wild Berry Products chocolate. That stuff tastes so nasty and waxy to me. The told me they weren't doing anything wrong, but when you make chocolate with machines, you have to add the wax to make sure it will not lose its shape. At Northern Delights they make their chocolates in smaller batches by hand, so they do not need to add the parafin. I asked them where they made the chocolate, and they pointed to the back room, which to me looked about the size of an oversized broom closet. More power to them.
I have talked to some local merchants who occasionaly carry their candy. I was complaining to them that they should carry it more often. THe reason they reported that they dont, is that when there is not a high turn over they can't carry it, because they don't use preservatives, and have a quick expiration. So they only carry it during the holidays and tourist season.
To me this was another reason as to why their chocolates are so good.
Fresh ingredients, real fruits, no artificail flavorings, small batches, and they must add a little love to.
If you or someone you love deserves a treat, and can tell the difference between a good chocolate and yucky imitation stuff, this is the place.
