Awesome + suck = eh.
I grew up with Oomingmak downtown in Anchorage. I never really paid attention to it until I was an adult, though. Qiviut is the softest, most luxurious yarn ever to come from an animal, it's like yarn made from happy dreams. The stuff is worth at least double its weight in gold. And at Oomingmak nice Yupik and Inupiaq ladies from all over Alaska knit beautiful stuff from qiviut. For some it's their primary source of income. Totally wow.
Unfortunately, as others here have pointed out, the price is shock-inducing. Qiviut is horrendously expensive (musk oxen aren't exactly a frequently farmed critter), and the work that goes into their products is fantastic. But only people with fantastic budgets can afford it.
